Title: Arkan ==> Update page 51
Post by: Arkan on April 12, 2008, 07:31:12 PM
Hello all,
my name is Arkan and i life in Rotterdam (Holland). I thought it was time to introduce myself.
I ride in a EE9 from '91. This is my 4th EE9 and i love to drive a EE9.
Maybe some of you know my ride, it was from Bas Boersma. I bought the car in june last year.
After i bought the car i purchased a third brake light, the red strip and 16 inch Rota Auto-X rims.
My plans in the future are first of all to handle the rust and a paint job and than build a B18C engine.

This is how i bought the car:

With the red stripe:

Welcome , nice EE9.

Do you still know the licence numbers of the other 3 ee9's?  Where that Dutch or germans ?

It looks a lot better with the red stripe on it again (http://www.civicvtec.org/forums/Smileys/default/afro1.gif)

Hi,

all three where import EE9's.

My first one was: LX-SH-33 but this one doesn't exist anymore and i don't have pics of that car, It was a red one.

Second one i don't know the license plate anymore but it was the car below:

yo arkan think ive got your second ee9
TD-LL-32 is the licence plate i recognise it because of the type r emblem and the vti on the back
if you look on new members jerm7 you can see how it looks now
also featured a b16a2 engine with supersprint exhaustmainfold full decat exhaust system, skunk2 pro series intakemanifold with port match 68mm throtllebodie(gasklephuis) a realcarbon js racing intake and a remapped ecu still running obd0
no dyno sheet or estimation on power so i hope civicvtec.org will arrange a new meeting in the near future

Hi,

i don't think that is my old EE9, if i am not wrong there was something with a X on the license plate. And that car had a complete paint job en it wasn't barcelona green anymore but black.

Personally I would never try to paint that stripe, I dont think you will get a good finish on that.
Check out some carpartshops like Brezan where they sell 3M striping, some might have a single red stripe lying around
but it doesnt get sold often anymore.

Last week i received my garnish but i received it without a inverter. Probbebly the carrier (TNT) stole it!! Because the seller said that he included the inverter but it never came out of the box. The place where the seller putted the inverter was open.
Sow I ordered a new inverter by Kitelight. Today i received it and finally I installed it.  :funny:

It is a long time that I posted here, sow I thought it will be time to give a short update.
After the birth of my daughter I didn't had a lot time for other things.
In the mean time I sold my EE9 to a guy which is living in Belgium. After selling the EE9 I also sold my daily drive (seat leon) and bought a civic 5drs 1.8VTI MB6 which I am stil driving. So I am still driving a B-serie.
And yesterday I bought a 1989 civic shuttle EE2 with a B16A1 swap! I think its the only one in the Netherlands with a B-engine. The car is really damn fast.

I will post pics soon.

Yes the white one.
It has a little bit work. Some rust at the standard places.
Engine is in very good condition, the LMA's where replaced by A2 LMA's, no v-tik

Yes its the old one of Rob. Yesterday I bought a ee9 front bumper back from Rob. 1.5 years ago I solded this bumper to Rob.  The bumper is already modified to the shuttle.  This bumper I will install on this shuttle and with time I want to repaint the car to G66P.
I will post some pics when I have enough time to make pics.

Plans are changed,
Last week I bought a dutch EE9 and wanted to sale this one first but I have a buyer for the Shuttle
and I now will keep the EE9.
The EE9 is in very standard en good condition. I bought it from a Honda dealer in Veghel. The old owner was a older man which had the car for 15 years.
The left fender has to be repainted and some rust on the left side.
There is 192.xxxkm's on it.

I will post pics asap.

A word of advice for the rings, put some protection on them or they will corrode (roesten/aanslag) in no time.
That's what happened to mine unfortunately  :banghead:
Put a good wax or sealant on them for more future joy.

Next month the car has to go for the MOT, I hope the rust will be no problem.
I also ordered a timing belt set and waterpump, Motul 8100 5w40 full synth. oil, hamp oilfilter and a magnetic carterplug. Hopefully this weekend I can do all of this. Only the timing belt will be done by a friend of mine, I can't do this myself. I also have LMA's of a B16A2 I think I will replace the old ones with these. Because the vtec tick is really annoying me!!

I also ordered a cheap-ass window visor. It is from HEKO, never heard of it but it was cheap and worth to try out. Much cheaper as the CLIMAIR's.

Check ebay.de and type in "civic" and "heko*" then you´ll find a lot of them. Currently no for 4th Gen - but they were also available...

I think they are ok if you are not after a genuine set... And much cheaper than the original

I will fit it and will see how it looks on my car.
I'm also curious how long it will stays in place because of the double sided tape. It's not in the whole lenght of the visors but only on 4 places. On my previous EE9 I had OEM ones and on that one the tape was in the whole lenght.

It's not that I don't like them, but if I can get the money for it then I can use it for something else for my car
(remove rust, better suspension set)

I think that's a better investment at this time, your car needs it.

looks good with the wisors, i have the same set for two years, about a month ago lost one on the motor way :) i think u need to use the clips when u put the wisor outside, not inside where the window goes into the rubber ;)

I have put it without the clips, I didn't know where to put the clips.
Do you have a picture of how?

Some of you already know that I bought a sedan. Its a 1.5 GL AUT and there is no rust on the car. The rear right arch has a little damage which has been repaired but not so good, thats the only bad point. The car was from a old men who was 81 years old and wasn't able to drive any more. It has 129.xxx km's and it really drive like new. The same day I have lowered the car and put the Mugens on it.

This will be my daily till I restored the EE. This will take a while ( 1year??? or more???).
In the meanwhile I also have plans with the sedan. First a EE9 front bump, red striping and I have "B" plans with it.

Today Jeroen and I spend some time to try to fit the EE9 front bump on the sedan, and guess what, it fitted without to many modifications. I used only the bump frame of a shuttle/sedan and had to make some minor modifications. Well pics says more:

Thanks Wim, I didn't searched for it on internet. But do you mean only the seats or the whole interior?
If I change the rails the front seats will fit, the back seat will not fit, these are very different.

Yesterday I removed the centers of the mugens and brought them today to the painter. First I wasn't sure what color it should be, black or dark grey. But finally decide to go for black. According to the painter I could pick it up within 2 days.

(http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/3571/009fxr.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/009fxr.jpg/)

We where a little borred this evening and we began to polish the bolts of the mugens together with my wife.
It took like 4hrs to polish all 116 bolts with our hands.

Result
(http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7190/010abl.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/199/010abl.jpg/)

(http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/5183/013va.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/15/013va.jpg/)

Finished

the previuos owner of the wheels didn't use any glue after repainting the wheels, so after 4 laps in the ring , with toyo 888's, I noticed strange noise and kind of movement in my suspension, I went to the petrol station and the noise was increasing, when i stooped in the petrol station, I saw that my front wheels are falling apart, litterally my bolts where on the floor in the station and all over the road, some of them still in the wheels, but barelly holding...

I had some problems with my storage place of the EE, so the EE had to go out there and I couldn't find another place at this moment so I have decide to drive it as my daily again. The MOT was expired in April. Last friday I get fresh MOT till next year.
Yesterday me and a friend have replaced the cambelt.

My wife now will drive the sedan as daily ( better as a Daewoo Matiz ). And she never drove a lowered car and I know how she parks (stoeprand ), so I removed the loweringsset and the mugens from the sedan and put them on my EE  :danc1:

This morning I walked to my car to go to work and holy crap they have stole my license plates.
I really can't understand why people do this kind of things.

I already did that the same morning, and also get my new license plates. But I think I also need the license plate holder on the front bumper because they have fucked it up.

Today Jeroen an I picked up the EE8. We had a lot of vtec pleasure on the way back home  :danc1:
As I mentioned the car has a lot of rust, especially the right rear arch

(http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/7125/imgp7986.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/14/imgp7986.jpg/)

The engine is in good condition, has 196xxx on the clock.

(http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/8208/imgp8000.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/imgp8000.jpg/)

It also has nice goodies such as:

(http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/6884/airco.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/21/airco.jpg/)

and

(http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/2388/stoelverwarming.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/stoelverwarming.jpg/)

The airco is in good working condition, I will try to swap this into the sedan or the EE9.
As far as I checked the heated seats are not working.

and the EE8 at this moment

Nice Arkan, good you found a new powerplant for the sedan. And some very nice goodies for the EE9. Those heated seats and AC add some extra luxery to the car from 21-years old.
I have been looking a long time for an AC in my car, but never found a good and complete set.
And the heated seats, are the heating spirals still in the seats ? Or did the previous owner swap seats? If so, maybe you can buy some universal spirals for in the seats, i've seen them once at Conrad.

Thanks Wim!
I will try to build the airco in the sedan, because this will be the family car I think it will be better in the sedan as in the EE9. I don't know if it is a lot of work and if I can do it by myself. If not then I will sell the complete system.
I really don't know if the spirals are in the seats or not, didn't checked it yet. So far I only know that the system is not working.
As from next week I have 3 weeks free of my work and than the rebuild will begin.

Nice! 2 fun cars after 3 weeks then  :clapp:
Goodluck with the swap, I hope it all works.
Are you also going to swap the brakes from the CRX to the Sedan? and, if possible, swap the heated seats to the Sedan. That will make your wife happy in wintertime

Last week I started to strip the crx, I began with the interior:

(http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/918/043sad.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/043sad.jpg/)

(http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/6687/045ox.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/32/045ox.jpg/)

(http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/395/049crn.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/801/049crn.jpg/)

(http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/9058/050st.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/050st.jpg/)

Then Jeroen and I removed the B16 out

(http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/4120/006obh.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/006obh.jpg/)

(http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/6045/008spz.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/190/008spz.jpg/)

(http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/2623/009fdo.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/231/009fdo.jpg/)

(http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/7347/011cqv.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/841/011cqv.jpg/)

There was made a bracket for the engine mount on the belt side,

(http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/6540/016qfb.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/016qfb.jpg/)

(http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7376/017rm.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/69/017rm.jpg/)

First I didn't understand why the bracket was made but after removing the bracket I understand the reason,

(http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/9373/014yfc.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/849/014yfc.jpg/)

(http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/8739/015fl.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/015fl.jpg/)

This is really fucked up for me, because the swap mount now not will fit, I have to figure out a solution. I don't know if I can use this same bracket for the sedan.

Updates will follow...

Hey man, long time I've checked your topic, nice work on the sedan, and too bad the EE9 is gone now.
You've bought a white ED3 as well?

The MR5's look nice in black, but I liked the original color too!
Now there are 4 of us rockin' black MR5's?

Anyway keep up the good work man.

Thanks man,
the EE9 is gone. I have bought another ED3, a white one and this one will be powered with a b16. This one has a manual transmission which will be easier for the swap. The other one has a automatic transmission and I don't want to f** up this one, it drives soooo good.
And the white sedan has aircoooooooo :danc1:

Hope you don't feel bad after a while about selling the EE9, and hope the next owner takes good care of it.

Hehe good man airco is nice! Was it the one with 115xxx km on it?
A friend of me has an ED3 also, he was thinking about selling his one (bad state) and get the white one, but he wasn't sure about it, I told him to get it from day one but he was very slow in making a choice.
I'm gonna laugh in his face if you got it now and make it a sweet sedan lol.

Can't wait for some updates

I don't have lots of pics yet of this one, the only I have are:

(http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/7500/022wc.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/155/022wc.jpg/)

Its pretty much in good shape. Both arches are a bit rusty. Both axles are bad. The strip between the headlights and bumper is a little damaged.
There will come nice things of a EE9 on this car. Bumper is for sure but thats not all. You all will see when the other things will be for sure  :hah!:

Well the reason was that the interesse is now totally in the sedan. Will spend all my time/money in the sedan now. And Cihad asked me a couple time if I consider to sell my car and finally he bought it. ( I know what you think, why not stallen etc. ).

But believe me after I'm finished with the sedan there will be no other same driving in the Netherlands.

Now some updates with the sedan. Lowered the car and the put the mugens on it. Next step is the bumperswap.

Sorry for the crappy pics, better ones will follow after the bumpswap.

The jdm headlights are very cool but I prefer to have a whole EE9 front on it, bumper, headlights, hood etc.

I didn't had a lot time lately but I didn't sit on my ars and bought a complete underblock. I will use this one togehter with the head of the other engine. The complete engine is at this moment being freshed up. New valveseals, new piston rings, new ACL bearings, b16a2 lma's etc. and the engine will get a fresh paint job. Then the swap can begin. I have to finish the car before the snow will fall.

The fitment is not so perfect as it fitted the gray sedan. We didn't have spend a lot of time to make the fitment perfect.
Soon the bumperbwill go off to get a new paintjob, then I will spend more time to make it fit perfect.

At this moment it stands te same as my last update. Under block has to be painted and then it can be build up.
I also have to find a place/garage where I can do the swap, I dont have my own garage anymore...

Nice Arkan, starting to look more and more like the ideal family car.
Those 2 extra doors look like a dream haha....I was fighting to get my son in the back last week in his child seat....not funny.

It didn't worked out with the Rota's, received one wheel with some damage on the lip and it took something like 3 weeks that I could return the wheels and get my money back.
I now have XXR wheels

(http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/2493/20120701084129.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/29/20120701084129.jpg/)

Also have bought EE9 front seats and make them fit in the sedan. It took some time to make them fit but finaly it worked. These seats are 10 times better then the ED3 seats for sure. Now I will try to find at least 2 back seats so I can bring it to a seat repair shop so they can reline the back seat with EE9 fabric.

I think the rota's would have looked better on the car, hell I even thought the Mugen's gave the car a more classy look. But it's not my car, I can however really appreciate the time you put into this car.  :goodstuff:
How low is your car exactly?
Title: Re: Arkan - B16 powered ED3 - fresh pics @ P40
Post by: Arkan on July 11, 2012, 11:02:43 AM
I agree that the rota's looked better but this was the last new set in NL. So the same rota's was no option anymore.
Not sure how low it is now. But I can still lower the front and back with 2cm. It's a cheap AP set, but it does his job.

As the car isn't a GL anymore the GL decal on the trunk had to go, I also took of the reflector plate and cleaned the trunk

Think its time for a short update.
January 2013 a truck hit my car and it wasn't worth to restore it so I part it out and the chassis went to the junk yard.
After that I bought a ek4 sedan and owned this one about 6 months.
Now I own a ed3 sedan again with a b16 engine :-)
I know you all like pics but you.have to wait. I will post pics once I have received my new wheels ;-)

Meanwhile I bought another daily, a 1.6 EP2. Its so far in good condition and drives fine. Has a little damage on the rear bumper.

Wow, that's looking nice Arkan. Is the engine repaired at EDG?
I have been in contact with them before i decided to keep the b18. I wanted them to build the b20 vtec. But it was a little to expensive for me.
Did you trade the old broken b16a1 for the new one?
Title: Re: Arkan
Post by: Arkan on August 24, 2014, 04:54:04 PM
Only the gearbox is checked by edg. They have marked the gearbox with there initials ( EDGT ). I didn't traded the broken engine. Still have the broken engine, will keep it for myself for spare parts.

Next week I will put type r cams, also looking for a type r intake. If some one knows one for sale for a reasonable price just let me know.
