Title: TeamVTEC NEW pics on page 50
Post by: TeamVTEC on April 01, 2005, 12:00:53 AM
I'm Sander, 26 years old and this is my car.
I really don't like 2F2F styling so you probaly will not see any of that on my car.
It's those small, simpel things that i like...
The JDM style does the trick for me, keepin it real with OEM Honda and JDM Access goodies

Brand:         Honda
Type:          Civic 1.6i VT EE9 (one of the Dutch 40)
Color:         Barcelona green pearl
Make:         1990
Kilometers: 290.000km

I bought a DC sports header at Knite Force his parts store for 200 Euro.
It did'nt look that good, it was covered with rust and grease
That had to come of, i don't want a dirty header under my hood :idiot:

Yesterday i had my header sand blasted.
Took 10 min and costed me 15 Euro
Then i coated it with heat resistant spraypaint.
Here's the result:

WoW netjes goos.

Thanks for taking photos of both, for all of us here at SiR FH to enjoy with you.

@ Pasene, thanks for your comments, i did see a mugen SPL spoiler before and in real life... it was on the grey car above.
Chris did a real good job on the packaging, it took me almost 15 minutes to get all the plastic and tape of the items.
Do you already have any pics of your MUGEN steering wheel BTW?

Title: Re: TeamVTEC
Post by: TeamVTEC on January 03, 2006, 09:18:24 PM

Dus het wordt een zomer swap plaat from now on

It came off from a 1991 JDM Civic CRX SIR EF8/9 with Very Low Miles. "

:tickedoff:

I'll keep you all posted!

Gaat ie lekker loeien.

Weet iedereen meteen : " Dont touch".

Quote
why did you replaced yours?

Because it steals engine power.

last year we met three times on a dyno run...

Two times we made some "experiments".

On the one hand we had a EE8 and on the other hand we DC2 Teg.
Both cars were tested with OEM box and with that f**king intakes.

Now you can guess why I removed my HAI

The Teg lost nearly 10HP with the aftermarket intake... (It was NO CAI!!!)

I will see it the next dyno run because my last one was made with the HAI...

@Marc: what kind of filter do you have in your OEM box?
A K&N filter, or a Green or something?

K&N

And how does that sounds?
I had a HKS drop-in filter in my OEM box, but the sounds wasnt as loud as with a K&N filter.

Well I had one serious buyer living in Belgium, but for some reason he isn't responding to my final offer.
As it seems it will take some time to sell my car, since serious interest in the car is scarce.
W'll just have to wait and in the mean time enjoy what we are having.

Looking forward to attend to a meeting shortly.

Well if the time comes that you need to sell your car in parts......you know what I want right

But I hope that moment will not come, I hope that you will find a owner who can value the car for what it is.

I tried to fit my EF9 door visors on friday but it seems like Tommy was right, these visors will leave a 1 cm space open between the mirror and the visor.... my conclusion, these are NOT the EF9 ones but infact for the EF3 Si :banghead: since i already had such a EF9 set (but got broken) i could lay them on top of each other to measure them. well they are shorter alright :buck:

Well they were the same as the auction on ebay but we arranged this only via mail so there's no ebay involved.
But he states this in his auction: "NEW JDM HONDA EF9 Civic OEM Window Visor EF 88-91 NR"

But these are NOT for the power folding mirrors but for the NON folding mirrors so they should fit any ED or EE Civic

I did ask the seller if these were for the power folding mirrors.
He replied these were for the EF9 and should fit the power folding mirrors.
Since I couldn't compare mine with the real ones I thought the allignment of my mirrors was causing the gap, but Sander solved that mistery by now.
Personally I don't mind this small gap, since they are brand new and have the smoke color.
Finding I new set will be a hard job, but always seems to be in the right hands when Sander is dealing with it.

Good luck finding a new set.

RNR number 3 and 4 were delivered today.... these were in a far better condition then the other 2 I already had.
The red stripe is OEM like and very thin, which was not the case on the other 2.
It seems to me that these wheels were differently painted or got mixed up with the other set the seller had on auction. :banghead:
Packaging was poor, same crappy bubble plastic
Anyway, I'm getting them repainted in the same colors.
I went to a powdercoating company today for a price quote, the guy did'nt knew for sure if he wanted to take the wheels on order because of the dual tone colors.
He gave me an estimate of 250 Euros for all 4 wheels.

Well we've spotted one 2 years back on Ebay, but after reading the description of the auction it seems
it was only a HKS catback with the Mugen end-tips and the Mugen badge welded to the muffler.

Listen up, i think i misunderstood some of your intensions with your future EE9 to be.
I'm was just concerned it would be turned into a sprint car, not that it's any of my business but like i said I'm just worried.
But i read some of your other replies that you have something else that will end up on the track instead of the EE9 so most of my worries are gone

I am going to race the car once or twice, just to find out my quarter-mile times. After that, no mo' racing with that car, untill she gets swapped! Then a few other test runs, and that's it. My engine needed replacement since it almost had 280.000km on it and with a loud VTEC rattle and clutch that started to make some noise it was time for a 1991 B16A1 engine with 130.000km on it with a new clutch and new belts.
It really drives like a new car now, no more VTEC rattle and lots of other ticking sounds from under the hood.
We started Thursday night with the swap in the after work hours... since the boss was on a holliday
My buddy VTECNico was also there with his car to change a broken dynamo(?)

We started to remove the reinforcement bar, header, dirveshaft axles, wheels etc.

After a few hours we got it out

The next day we completely cleaned the new engine with brake cleaner (good shit btw!) and sprayed it of with air.
next up was the car... we had to push it to the carwash box and then cleaned the engine compartiment with the same stuff and sprayed it of with water.
We used a total of 5 spraying cans of that brake cleaner hehe... well it did a good job.
Then it was time to put everything back into the car, all went well... and it did start the second time but my gearbox has a small problem i think... i used the gearbox that was on the new engine so no proble you would think, but it's very difficult to put the shifter into the gears.
It shifts ok but verry stif.
Anyone here has an idea?

Sorry, i dont have pics of the actuall install, i do have pics of it installed :eyes:
My engine bay is really clean!

Thanks guys, well we've changed all engine and transmission fluids.
the motor mounts were in good shape except the one close to the radiator, that needs replacement soon.
A friend of mine with the red dutch EE9 works in that garage so that really came in handy :eyes:
And i'm going back to stock air intake because of the cleaner look and more power in the low RPM ranges, the CAI only picks up at 4000rpm the stock one picks up faster.
but the stock intake sounds kinda hmmmm  so i might go back to the CAI... but for now i'm taking it easy with my new engine

The left pipe has 1 fin straight down, and the right one does not. Its not symetrical

I didn't even wanted to go back home and seeing the weather here in Holland made it even worse.
We're allready planning to go back in august.

Ok back to the regular life.....
Received a package from NZ today, containing a light up garnish with all plugs, wiring an power inverter and a EF3~9 Honda swiffel maplight.
Both in exellent working condition!

I made a trip to a place called Wirdum and met the guys at Japoto to pickup a Y1 LSD tranny for my car.
My current transmission has some broken bearings so it had to be replaced.

both JDM parts and import of complete JDM cars
Title: Re: TeamVTEC
Post by: TeamVTEC on May 21, 2007, 10:31:20 PM
I got my Y1 LSD tranny installed on Saturday.
Here are some impressions
(http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1024/1001330vf9.jpg)

Installed
(http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/6349/1001334wl4.jpg)

Difference which can be seen from the outside in.
NON LSD
(http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/3517/1001338cv0.jpg)

LSD
(http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/387/1001336iw9.jpg)

Other difference was the speedo, on a European VT the gauge clusters are analoge... on a JDM civic it's all digital and so it also uses a digital speedo.
the hole for the speedo is on both tranny's the same so we could easily switch them.

Well it works ok... i can really feel the difference when speeding away from the traffic lights, no more wheel spin :azn:
In the corners it's just amazing... you can feel the car grip itself through the corners with your foot on the gas.
Now gotta test it out in the wet... :eyes:

There is a problem however.... when i make tight turn to the left or right something makes a scraping/grinding sound... we double checked everything on the garage bridge.
Anyone here got an idea of what it could be???

It's been a while since i last updated my topic but there are some plans that i would like to share with you all.
As some of you may already have heard, I'm changing my car back to the original state that it was in back in the nineties.
I'm removing the front and rear bumper, foglights, chargespeed lip, windowvisors and sideskirts and replacing them with a brand new front and rear bumper, OEM skirts and brand new side mouldings.
Yeah i know, i must be crazy, well maybe i am but at this point i can't stand it that people are trying to imitate my style, that's just something that's in my mind no offense.
I want my car to stand out at meetings and not be one like many others.

I will post my progress in the projects page when the time is ripe

like i told you before, it's a shame for the car. It has been one of the best looking 4th gens on the shows the last years. But I can imagine why you are doing it. You want to have something unique and you did. I've enjoyed it, but I'm sure that the "new" looks will be just as nice!
Good luck with this makeover

I must say that the last months the "special"  parts in Holland , are less special than a year before.  Especially the cars that hanging around this forum almost all have some imported parts , like the wing , the mirrors or whatever on it.

It's dificult to beeing diferent , and maybe stock is the solution.
Title: Re: TeamVTEC
Post by: Knite Force on October 09, 2007, 08:54:19 PM
I think one's own style is the solution :)

you got a 1 of a kind car. and everyone has his own taste in building/rebuilding his/her car.
And i can imagine that you dislike it when people try to copy yours , but i would not change my car back to stock for this reason. If you would make it stock , then i would storage the parts , bet it will be worth a fortune in a few years :) That is why i did not paint and put my access skirts on. I had an offer of 800 USD ex shipping for it and i denied , you imagine what your stuff is worth.

Nobody can copy mine thank god :) well can't copy what's under the hood atleast :)

And ppl indeed don make a copy of someones car , it starts looking like ROTA , they copy every wheel at the moment and it is no fun @ all

I don't know how i got my turn signals to stay on all the time and blink when turning, a friend of mine did it for me.
the police never pulled me aside for those, but it's not legal.
My mugen rnr's are 4,8Kg in weight.

which rimms/wheels are the lightest in 16 or 15inch (vdp, supperlegra/turismo enz)

Well I think I can answer that being a wheel whore and all :eyes:

Top 3 of the lightest 15" wheel in 15x 6,5J
1. Volk CE28N  -  3,7kg
2. Desmond Regamaster EVO  -  3,8kg
3. Racing Hart CP035-R  -  3,9kg

The top 3 of lightest 16" wheel in 16x 7J
1. Racing Hart CP035-R  -  4,9kg
2. Mugen MF10  -  5,0kg
3. Volk TE37  -  5,1kg

There are more wheels that are in the 5kg category but some of them are dis-continued or hard to get.

This weather was really frustrating to drive in with my EE9, it sucked bad.. scraping over the ice and snow. Not even to mention the damage snow, ice and salt are doing to my car.
So I spent some time on the Internet and found a rare green colored EG4 (didn't have to be pretty-IT WAS CHEAP! )

I just bought a 1995 Honda Civic 1.5 '95 EG4 Silverstone in Lousanna Green Pearl G71P (only on 1995 EG4 silverstones) (almost like G66P  ) and bronze tinted glass
It's the same color  Mark Hatch had on his 95 silverstone. http://www.civicvtec.org/forums/index.php/topic,1612.0.html
I bought the car for daily drive and so giving my baby some well deserved rest under the carport.

Pictures will follow soon.

Because it was too high or to low (http://www.civicvtec.org/forums/Smileys/default/wink1.gif)

I paid an arm and a leg for it... But its worth it (http://www.civicvtec.org/forums/Smileys/default/goodstuff.gif)

Time to dust off this topic with an update. Well it's not really a update because I own this car for a couple of years now. I sold my EE9 to buy a EP3 that belonged to my best friend. He died to young. I wanted to buy his car because it was the last thing remaining, that was still like he drove it. And I know how much he loved it.

It's an 2004 EP3 TypeR in Cosmic Grey Pearl
